I had breakfast with my lovely friend J on Saturday. Catching up over lattes, turkish breakfasts and knitting (we’d both forgotten it was Knit In Public day, so our participation was accidental). J gave me these lovely beads, which she bought in Hanoi:

Silk-covered wooden beads.

She bought them at Craft-Link, “a Vietnamese not-for-profit organisation which acts in the best interest of craft producers. Craft-Link links and builds self-sufficiency and self-reliance for producers. Sales profits are used to fund craft development activities such as business training, product development and market awareness. Craft-Link seeks to ensure that producers receive a fair wage and work in reasonable conditions which threaten neither their health nor the environment.”

Could be worth a visit if you’re heading that way. 43 Vanmieu Street, Hanoi – tel 844 843 7710.
